IBERIA TO HANDLE AIRCRAFT AND COMPONENTS MAINTENANCE FOR DANA AIRLINES MD-80 FLEET    (07.08.2008)

 Dana Airlines is a new Nigerian domestic carrier.  Iberia Maintenance serves more than 100 clients and is the world’s ninth-largest maintenance company.

Iberiahas signed a maintenance and support contract with   Nigeria’s Dana Airlines under which it will be responsible for the inspection, maintenance, and repair of its fleet of Boeing MD-83 aircraft and components, at Iberia Maintenance installations in Madrid.

 

Iberia has long experience in the maintenance of Boeing MD-80s. The maintenance division is also experienced in the maintenance of airframes, engines and components of the Airbus A320 and Airbus A340 aircraft families, and Boeing 757s.

 

Dana Airlinesis a new Nigerian carrier that will cover domestic routes. It has acquired six Boeing MD-83 aircrafts. The airline belongs to Nigeria’s large DANA business group, with interests in the pharmaceutical, automotive, food, chemical, and electronic industries since 1981.

 

Iberia Maintenancehas more than 80 years of experience. In addition to Iberia fleet, it serves more than 100 outside clients, and is the world’s ninth-largest maintenance company.

 

In 2007 it carried out a total of 1,273 aircraft engine inspections, including 1,004 A checks, 244 D checks and 27 D checks, or complete overhauls. It also inspected and repaired 145 aircraft engines, 34 auxiliary power units, and 68,083 components. Under the 2206-2008 strategic plan the division is working to double its revenues from outside clients, chiefly through engine and components maintenance and other high value-added activities.
